Today morning, i received two emails from Twitter. I was quite surprised to see them. I rarely use twitter. You can tell it easily by looking at my tweets. But, today two persons of high repute started following me. The first is Darren Rowse from ProBlogger and the other is Patrick Altoft from BlogStorm. Though i’m excited, i’d like to know the source… From where did i get these two followers ? I don’t have a link to my Twitter page from this blog. Neither i use Twitter often. So, any idea how i can find this out ?
A day ago i moved my blog from my old server to a new one and i haven’t moved my uploaded files. Also, here internet has been down for more than two days. I don’t know when it will be back. Also, my exams have commenced. I don’t know for sure when i can get back into blogging as before. I think it’ll take atleast a week. So please bear with me and any other broken images on this blog. Thanks for understanding.
Yesterday, i started searching for a good newletter script to use for my website Kontactr.com. First, i installed PHPList from Fantastico. It was clean and simple. I tried to import [get_bloginfo]url[/get_bloginfo]/wp-content/themes/ze66ninbqbhgakz3ahdq3j61672/files/category/my list of users into PHPList. I tried atleast a dozen ways… No luck
Then, i started searching for something better. I knew about Zookoda. So, i logged into my Zookoda account. Again, i couldn’t find a way to import my users. Also, i have read this post. So, i skipped Zookoda.
Then, at last, i came across this post from Mashable. It had a big list of Newsletter Services. All of them were paid. I’m not making much money to spend on such sophisticated services, as i was looking for something simple. If i signup with any of them, i will not use atleast 70% of their features.
So, do you know any simple, yet powerful script out there ? If so let me know… Also, if i don’t find any, i will write one myself. Also, would this make a good idea for my next startup ? Theres only Zookoda in the field of “free”, “hosted” newsletter services. I think i’ll be able to better and easier… What do you think ?
Recently, i came across this site, in a comment on one of my posts. It is a copycat page of Mozilla’s Firefox page. There is some difference because of the difference in versions. The copycat site offers only FF1.5. I don’t know the reason. Maybe, Adsense is offering only 1.5.
After closely examining, the site violates many of Google Adsense’s program policies :
- May not encourage users to click the Google ads by using phrases such as “click the ads,” “support us,” “visit these links,” or other similar language
- May not direct user attention to the ads via arrows or other graphical gimmicks
- May not place misleading images alongside individual ads
- May not place misleading labels above Google ad units – for instance, ads may be labeled “Sponsored Links” but not “Favorite Sites”
Website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with content protected by copyright law unless they have the necessary legal rights to display that content. Please see our DMCA policy for more information.
But, the site uses the logo of Firefox and Mozilla without any references to the copyright owner.
So, doesn’t this site need to be reported to Adsense ? I’ve done it already… Hope you do the same…
I’ve started a new contest on my other blog My Blog Contests and am giving away a nice Fingertip Ring-Based USB Mouse. To enter the contest, you’ll have to blog about it and linkback as stated. Also, I’ve launched a Contests toolbar. Also, there are lots of other ways to enter the contest like Subscribe to Feed, Add to Technorati Faves etc… Check out the contest post for more info and to learn about the features of the mouse.
Sorry for being so late on schedule in posting about my Top Keyword. I was busy studying for my exams and my mom banned me from the computer. The keyword is…. See for yourself :
It is Taj Mahal. If you go a Google Image Search for that word, you’ll find GotChance.com listed first. (Uh oh ! It has changed now). Anyway that was unusual. But this is a nice piece of example of Seasonal traffic. I wrote the original post just in time when the New 7 Wonders were being announced. It hit the first page and i received good traffic. Thats it !
I’m happy to announce the winners for my Ad Banner on GotChance contest. I’d like to thank everyone who participated and all the blogs that posted about the contest. Special thanks to My Blog Contests (why ? thats my blog, Lol). I had a total of 44 Entries. I gathered all the names and usernames from Digg, del.icio.us etc.. and put them all in an Excel file, one name in a cell. Then, assigned numbers to them. After that, i went over to Random.org to generate three random integers between 1 and 44. Here are the results :
So, the winners are :
- 31 – schizodiary from StumbleUpon
- 11 – Laura @ Laura Williams’ Musings from the Comments
- 42 – wirelessgirl from del.icio.us
I’m contacting schizodiary and Laura now. But, i couldn’t find any contact info for wirelessgirl. If you are wirelessgirl, feel free to contact me with some kind of proof. All the banners will be up anytime now once they send it to me.
If any of these three don’t reply within 48 hours, i’ll pick another winner. Once again, thanks for all your participation. Look out for my next contest very soon. Planning to really give some “gadget” away.
UPDATE : It turns out to be that wirelessgirl is LOLDogs.
