isnt this a violation

Isn’t This A Violation ?

Recently, i came across this site, in a comment on one of my posts. It is a copycat page of Mozilla’s Firefox page. There is some difference because of the difference in versions. The copycat site offers only FF1.5. I don’t know the reason. Maybe, Adsense is offering only 1.5.

After closely examining, the site violates many of Google Adsense’s program policies :

  • May not encourage users to click the Google ads by using phrases such as “click the ads,” “support us,” “visit these links,” or other similar language
  • May not direct user attention to the ads via arrows or other graphical gimmicks
  • May not place misleading images alongside individual ads
  • May not place misleading labels above Google ad units – for instance, ads may be labeled “Sponsored Links” but not “Favorite Sites”

Copyrighted Material

Website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with content protected by copyright law unless they have the necessary legal rights to display that content. Please see our DMCA policy for more information.

But, the site uses the logo of Firefox and Mozilla without any references to the copyright owner.

So, doesn’t this site need to be reported to Adsense ? I’ve done it already… Hope you do the same… 🙂

Thanks, Hari. This is indeed a scam and violates both the Google TOS and Mozilla’s trademarks and copyright content. I’ll add it to our list and make sure someone follows up.

Thanks again.
