Yesterday, i started searching for a good newletter script to use for my website Kontactr.com. First, i installed PHPList from Fantastico. It was clean and simple. I tried to import my list of users into PHPList. I tried atleast a dozen ways… No luck :(
Then, i started searching for something better. I knew about Zookoda. So, i logged into my Zookoda account. Again, i couldn’t find a way to import my users. Also, i have read this post. So, i skipped Zookoda.
Then, at last, i came across this post from Mashable. It had a big list of Newsletter Services. All of them were paid. I’m not making much money to spend on such sophisticated services, as i was looking for something simple. If i signup with any of them, i will not use atleast 70% of their features.
So, do you know any simple, yet powerful script out there ? If so let me know… Also, if i don’t find any, i will write one myself. Also, would this make a good idea for my next startup ? Theres only Zookoda in the field of “free”, “hosted” newsletter services. I think i’ll be able to better and easier… What do you think ?

Hi Shrihari,
I think you should try out poMMo.
poMMo is versatile mass mailing software. It can be used to add a mailing list to your Web site or to organize stand alone mailings. Unique Features such as the ability to mail subsets of your subscribers set it apart from alternatives. poMMo is written in PHP and freely provided under the GPL.

Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Austin
Thanks Austin,
Thats looks nice… I’ll try it out and post about my experience…
I’ll take a look, too.
I’m building my site from my WordPress.com blog right now, & need a mass mailing soft.
Good luck!
See you,
Rubén
Pommo has been working good for me so far…
That’s great Hari :)
Hope it also works out for Rubén.
Cheers!
It’s not the easiest software to use, but do a search for OEMPro and check it out. It is full-featured and they install it free.
@Austin Web Design: Seems to forgot to mention that OEMPro is not open source and is steeply priced at $268 minus the plugins which cost extra.
I highly recommend Dadamail.
I recommend poMMo
I think email software is going the way of all the earth if you catch my drift.
Hi You can also use http://www.feedblitz.com. They can do everything for you. Even upload subscribers. But the free option adds a nasty google look a like ad just under the title of the email newsletter. I have used aweber for my own site but feedblitz for sites I create for new bloggers.
Thanks for pointing out poMMo, looks like a great free script. If you’re looking for something with a lot of features try Send Studio. You have to pay for it, however it’s worth the money considering it allows you to cross-compatibility check your emails from within their program. It tests them in up to 20 different email clients, including mobile phones. I think they offer a free trial.
Maybe you should try aweber
aweber is good :)
I´ve never heard about poMMo, but it sounds really interesting. I´ll try the tool for our new newsletter. In past I did some testing with getresponse.com. The tool is not free but very cheap and easy to use. We´ll see….
I personally would not suggest aweber because of the price. There are good tricks you can use to get it free or if you’re really sneaky you can find a good alternative in one time software.
Keep up the great work, I love your posts
