Comparision of 6 Magazine Wordpress Themes
October 21st, 2007
52 Comments

A month or two ago, when i was searching for Magazine-style wordpress themes, i found none. But, today, after just a short time, there are 6 magazine-style wordpress theme available. Three of them are free and three of them are paid. In the upcoming posts, i’ll cover the various aspects of these themes. I’ll split this into three posts and will post in the upcoming days.

As of now, i’ll post the list of them. I’ve ranked them in terms of look, feature, quality and others.

  1. The Morning AfterFree
  2. Revolution News ThemePaid – (wanted to rank this the same as “The Morning After”. But “The Morning After” won over because it is Free)
  3. Mimbo Magazine ThemeFree
  4. Block MagazinePaid
  5. Your RevolutionPaid
  6. Jello Wala MelloFree

I’d like to tell that, the ranking mentioned in this post is in no way influenced by my previous post. I’ll write more about these themes in my upcoming posts.

I’m looking at a redesign of my blog. These links came at the right time for me :-) Thanks!

While it takes a bit more hand coding, I really like Mimbo. Only problem is I have my site all set, now 2.2 has come out; I need to figure out how to ‘update’ since so much of what I’ve done is in the php pages from the theme. Great theme though.

Since your post there have been many, many other magazine-style themes that have been released, both free and premium. Some of the features that have been integrated are very cool!

Nice list of designs, although comparing paid to free is a little unfair, since the investment of time and quality in a paid design is most likely to be more than that of a free design (after all, who designs their BEST when it’s free? :P)

I think that wagazine-style themes are suitable for ecommerce blogs. If your main goal is to provide your visitors with quality information it is worth using avarage themes.

Great list! I’m currently on blogger but thinking of making the switch to wordpress… then I’ll shortly be looking for a theme.

I have been using the “your revolution” theme for a long time on my website. I have to admit that it is really good and my custumers like it. I havn’t used other themes but as far as i can judge, “your revoultion” looks better.

I am a huge fan of the Revolution magazine themes – especially Revolution Church. They’re all fantastic but unfortunately the author made them all “paid”.
