U Comment, I Follow
June 13th, 2007
68 Comments

Today, i successfully installed the DoFollow plugin for Wordpress. This will be fair, as people are spending their time to comment on my posts, and i should be giving back something in return.

I have also added an image link on the sidebar so that any new user coming to the site will come to know of this.

Hello! Good Site! Thanks you! rdfcftwfdjcneu

What was the reason for you to follow links? Because there are better spam filters nowadays or you want to revenue your commentors?

Hari  -  March 23rd, 2008 at 1:30 am  -  #5

The main reason is to reward the commentators…

Peter  -  March 23rd, 2008 at 3:05 pm  -  #6

I was wondering the following: did you get more spam when you installed this plugin or was it almost the same…

Hari  -  March 23rd, 2008 at 3:08 pm  -  #7

Remained almost the same… anyhow Akismet takes care of each and every one of them…

Bruce from Vintage Golf Books  -  March 25th, 2008 at 6:31 pm  -  #8

I also use Do Follow. One problem is the increased amount of spam. You need to make sure you use Akismet plugin and also make sure to approve comments before they show up on your site. There’s nothing wrong with somebody embedding a link to their business as long as they write something productive, increasing the amount of good content for the site owner. Writing ‘Hey Nice post – or Great Video Man isn’t all that productive. Still Do-Follow is a nice way to get some extra content (and perhaps a few readers).

I have enjoyed reading your blog especially the SE and Technology sections, keep up the good work, thanks!

Slobodan  -  April 19th, 2008 at 7:32 pm  -  #10

Its nice thing to follow the source of the comments…
And im sure it brings more people to your blog.

Because content is the most important thing.
Once you get readers to come to your Blog (for any reason) good content will make them come again.

Keep it up.

I have this plugin installed on my blog too!

George Lindemann Jr  -  May 20th, 2008 at 2:41 pm  -  #12

I have installed the DoFollow plugin from Semiologic. I really wasn’t aware that there was a nofollow automatically placed on notes or I would have done this sooner

Carolina Panthers  -  July 1st, 2008 at 1:05 pm  -  #13

I’ve recently joined the do-follow revolution as well. I think it greatly adds to user commentary.

SEO Work  -  July 1st, 2008 at 7:39 pm  -  #14

I’ve installed the do-follow plugin on some of my blogs and saw comments skyrocket. Some are spam, but most are just people happy to have a little link love.

Toronto Condos  -  July 6th, 2008 at 6:18 pm  -  #15

I like the Dofollow plugin on my wordpress blog, my blog on my website is very limited but to my suprise I just checked it with the SEO pluggin for firefox and it is dofollow by default. Good thing the spam filters are getting better and better.

The “U Comment I Follow” Stratigy is a perfect one to make your blog more interactive and to get much traffic too…..

vertaalbureau engels  -  October 25th, 2008 at 11:20 am  -  #18

I agree. I think it shows respect for the commenters to reward them with a do-follow link. And the more they feel appreciated, the more likely that they will make valuable contributions.

Doug  -  October 25th, 2008 at 11:26 am  -  #19

Hi Hari

Have you noticed a significant increase in traffic and meaningful comments since adopting a do-follow stance?

Hari  -  October 25th, 2008 at 2:25 pm  -  #20

@Doug,
Sure, both have definitely increased.. :)

Until several weeks ago I’ll admit, I didn’t know a thing about do-follow or don’t-follow, and I sure didn’t know there was a plugin for WP. Page Rank, Seo, all that has been above my grade – just been doing things the natural way. But I think after a huge crash course on these things it’s really going to help my new blog… don’t know that it could do much for my old one.

But regardless, I appreciate having a class on it.

Thanks for making your blog do follow. You will find that there will be many more people here commenting than you have had previously. It’s a great revolution. Thanks for joining!

It is so wonderful that people unite under these movements, like Do-Follow one! We are giving the freedom back to the Web. Internet is now what it was supposed to be, links to other web-sites help people get information they want.
It’s funny when you start your surfing from checking local weather and then suddenly you find yourself reading about intergalactic travels ;)
I totally support “U-Comment-I-Follow”, I have Joomla web-site, and also ensured to enable do-follow links at comments.

I wish you infinite abundance and unlimited success! Good luck!

Adam westrop  -  January 11th, 2009 at 3:08 pm  -  #29

I know a lot of people who have changed from no-follow to do-follow to good effect. As long as you have a good spam filter you should catch all the rubbish, especially from blog spamming.

Ana is Single  -  January 14th, 2009 at 6:10 pm  -  #30

Recognizing your followers are the best thing that do follow bloggers owner have ever done. Thank you for rewarding us.

Having do follow is a nice thank you to your readers and is certainly an incentive to leave a comment.

Life Chat  -  February 28th, 2009 at 8:33 pm  -  #49

I’m glad to know that you didn’t see an increase in spam after adding do-follow. That is one of the main concerns for any administrator considering adding that to their site.

Hi,

I see you are using u comment I follow, but don’t see any links. Are you editing them all out? I would like to include you in my list of useful SEO tools and resources if you are interested? http://www.justgocommercial.org.uk/SEO-Blog/SEO-Tools.html

What do you think of Google subscribed links? My tools subscription positioned in the first 5 links within minutes, do you think that is useful?

Seems fair to me to give someone a link for posting a good comment. I get no comments ever on my blog but I guess no one is interested in home automation lol.

ENT Doctor  -  March 21st, 2009 at 5:37 pm  -  #56

This is a good strategy. I get a lot more traffic from my blog after I set up the dofollow plugin.

Flyingcows Publishing  -  March 22nd, 2009 at 7:52 am  -  #57

Wow! This indeed is good stuff, many sites out there don’t even care about rewarding the commentors. I like this blog, thanks for the good job Hari! I will model my sites just like yours. :)
