Everyone would have times in their blogging experience when they run out of content. This is the time when your blog traffic can die. But there are few methods that you can follow to retain the momentum. Many popular blogs follow the following methods, but not when they run out of content. The original motive of these methods is not to “fill your blog when you run out of content”.

Speedlinking

Speedlinking is a simple term that is used to posts that contain links to other Good posts in your niche. The actual purpose of this is to give your readers more content to read. You can’t run a blog just by speedlinking. But, you can speedlink to posts, on any day when you have nothing to post.

Darren Rowse does it under the title “Speedlinking” and Nate Whitehill does it under the title “Powerful Posts”.

Guest Posting

This is actually used when you have to go on a vacation and will not be able to make posts on your blog. But, when you have no content to post, you can “pretend” to go on a vacation and ask some of your friends to make Guest Posts on your Blog. Nate Whitehill has a very good post on how friends can help you. Recently Jane May made a lot of Guest posts on John Chow’s blog when he had gone to Taiwan.

The Blogosphere

Technorati is an excellent tool for bloggers. Go to Technorati and find out what other blogs in your niche are writing about. You can always write about the same too and if you can’t write something about it on your own, you can quote it from another blog and credit them (my posts like this : here and here).

These are the methods mostly i see bloggers using when they have nothing to write about. These can help for a day and no more than that. For the long run, content is really the king.
